Refractory Behaviors of Magnetite-Kaolin BricksNASA/ADS
In this work the suitability of using kaolin-magnetite-plastic clay to produce refractory bricks has been experimentally explored. Thirty bricks of different compositions were produced and fired at 1200°C. The density shrinkage moisture content loss on ignition porosity and permeability of the bricks were examined. Results show that the bricks remained stable during firing and thus
Hydrogeological classification of refractory clay deposits
Summary. A hydrogeological classification was developed for refractory-clay sites in the Borovich-Lyubytinsk region which will help the correct establishment of the required volume and structure of hydrogeological research in relation to any particular type of site and which will also facilitate effective measures to overcome underground water.

Refractory Materialan overview ScienceDirect Topics
Furnaces are built of refractory materials —heat resisting substances often in the form of bricks of standard shapes made from selected clays and other rocks blended moulded to shape and fired at high temperature. These bricks are assembled within a steel or cast iron framework or shell to form the furnace flues and other accessory parts which reach high temperatures.
